Heather Cheetham FCA
Heather has close to 20 years' experience in accountancy practice working with SMEs and business owners.
In 2023, Heather was nominated for the Young Finance Director of the Year award by Finance Wales.
Using her extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements, Heather ensures the smooth, pain-free processing of the regulatory maintenance for SME clients, including management accounts, VAT returns, year end statutory accounts and forecasts.
Heather is a keen netball player, horse rider and mum of two.

Marlon Armstrong FCCA
Marlon has almost 30 years' experience working with SMEs, focusing on building strong client relationships by helping with financial and other business issues. Over the last decade he's carved a niche advising ecommerce clients on cross border VAT, bookkeeping and tax structure.
As an advocate of multi-disciplinary professional services, Marlon sees AI and digitisation as key and wherever possible tries to use technology to give clients more time to run their business and make better decisions.
Marlon is a Liverpool season ticket holder, Jamie Carragher impersonator, keen traveller, aspiring footballer, and runner.

Shelley Davies
Shelley has over 25 years’ experience across both practice and industry, specialising in the construction and hospitality sectors.
She is passionate about helping businesses grow, thrive and overcome challenges, and is known for her practical, solutions-focused approach.
Outside of work, Shelley enjoys making the most of life with her two young boys, whether that’s having fun together or getting outdoors.

Outside of work, Sylvie enjoys keeping active at the gym and swimming, as well as reading and caring for her ever-growing collection of plants.

Josh is a member of the management team with over eleven years’ experience in accounting. He is both AAT and ACCA qualified.
Specialising in business advisory and management accounting, Josh works closely with business owners and finance teams to deliver real-time insight that drives commercial decision-making. He works across a broad client base, including group structures and overseas-owned entities, with particular strength in the manufacturing and engineering sectors.
Josh is Founder and Board Member of Wrexham Young Professionals. Outside of work, Josh unwinds with a good film, particularly the classics, and escapes to the USA whenever possible to live the movies in person.

Jon Cannock-Edwards
Jon is the Head of Skills and Marketing at The Uncommon Practice. Jon is the Director of The Academy of Ambition, our strategic training partner.
He has extensive experience in professional services and has worked as a Head of Marketing and Consultant for both smaller and global professional services firms.
Jon is the Chair of Wrexham Leadership Alliance Steering Group.
Jon is also a football coach, event compere, ballroom dancing champion, and former professional musician.

Stani Stowell-Smith
Stani has held multiple roles while completing her bookkeeping qualifications, which eventually led to her joining The Uncommon Practice in 2024.
Since joining the firm, she has completed AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. Her role is primarily bookkeeping-focused, supporting clients with accurate and well-organised financial records.
Stani is a busy mum of two who enjoys baking or relaxing with a good book whenever she gets some free time.

With 24 years’ experience as a primary teacher, Debbie brings organisation, communication, and people-management skills to her role as Admin Manager.

In the beginning, our founders realised that accounting support to SME business owners could be – and should be – so much better than the periodic, backwards-facing, compliance-focused approach offered by many accountancy firms.
In 2021, The Uncommon Practice was born.
Our mission? To offer proactive, forward-looking strategic services that support our SME clients’ growth ambitions.
Since then, from our headquarters in Wrexham, our award-winning chartered accountants and advisors have worked with hundreds of SME business owners in the UK and internationally, making sure they get the accurate financial data and strategic advice they need to make better decisions and playing a key role in the growth of their businesses.
And we’re a practice, not just a firm. The distinction matters.
